Human Rights and Democracy

An integral part of the work of People in Need is support of dissidents, opposition activists and the development of civil society in countries controlled by authoritarian regimes. In addition to supporting those working toward democracy on a daily basis, People in Need also presents the Homo Homini award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the protection of human rights and non-violent promotion of the development of democracy.

People in Need is active in Belarus, Burma, Cuba,  Moldova and Ukraine.
